Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto) Message for Akira Toriyama

Naruto: Meet the Creator -Masashi Kishimoto 2015 interview [English] - YouTube

“I’m at a loss for words about this sudden event. Growing up with Mr. Toriyama’s manga, from Dr. Slump to Dragon Ball, it became a natural part of my life. Even on bad days, the weekly Dragon Ball provided solace. As a country boy, it was a relief. When Dragon Ball unexpectedly concluded during my college years, I felt a profound loss.

Yet, it became an opportunity to appreciate the master’s greatness. I wanted to emulate him, to create a work like his. Following in his footsteps, I found new enjoyment in making manga. He was my guide, my admirer, and the God of manga. Meeting him at the Tezuka Award judging, I saw the joyous exchanges with Mr. Oda. Now, with the news of his passing, the loss is even greater than when Dragon Ball ended. Your impact was not limited to just the manga industry.

I don’t know how to fill the void in my heart. I can’t bring myself to read Dragon Ball or properly convey this message to Sensei. The world still anticipated his work. If one Dragon Ball wish could come true… I apologize for my selfishness, but I am deeply saddened, Sensei. Thank you for 45 years of enjoyment and hard work. My thoughts are with his grieving family. Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama-sensei.”

Así es el "set up" de Eiichiro Oda, el creador de One Piece

“Your sudden departure feel like a huge hole has pierced through my heart. The prospect of never seeing you again is deeply saddening. I’ve admired you since childhood, cherishing the moments you called me by name and declared me a friend. The memory of our last conversation lingers.”

“You took charge during an era when manga was dismissed as a trivial pastime, reshaping it into a medium enjoyed by both adults and children. You demonstrated that manga could transcend boundaries, inspiring me to dream of reaching the entire world. You were my superhero.”

“Your influence extended far beyond the manga industry. The childhoods of countless creators across various fields were shaped by the excitement of ‘Dragon Ball.’ Like a mighty tree, your presence reached for the sky. As we, the mangaka of our generation, delved into your work, we grasped its profound significance. Learning about the person behind it all, though intimidating, brought joy. We came to love you for who you were, not just for what you achieved.”

“I extend my deepest respect and gratitude for the vibrant creative world Toriyama left behind. From the depths of my heart, I pray for him to rest in peace. May heaven be as delightful as the worlds he imagined in his manga.”
