Anime Expo 2023: Anime announcements, Premieres

Anime Expo is North America’s largest anime event, comparable to San Diego Comic-Con for comic book fans and the general nerdy fanbase. It takes place in Downtown Los Angeles. The most recent version will take place from July 1 to July 4, 2023.

With Shin Megami Tensei’s 30th anniversary being honoured with a major concert on July 1, it may be difficult to choose what should be done first.

What we will get to see?

One piece 1000th episode English dub world premiere

On July 2, One Piece anime’s 1,000th English-dubbed episode as part of this year’s Anime Expo event will be premiered. The event will take place from 6:00-10:00 p.m. PDT at the Grammy Museum at L.A. Live Roof Top Terrace in Los Angeles, California. The event will be accessible and free to the public, even those who do not have an Anime Expo badge.

English voice actors Sonny Strait (Usopp), Patrick Seitz (Franky), and Ian Sinclair (Brook) will be on hand for autographs. There will also be a live drawing exhibition and Q&A with One Piece animators, a Luffy and Shanks statue display, demo stations for the One Piece Card Game and One Piece Odyssey game, and prizes for things such as the episode 1,000 opening scene storyboard booklet.


Anime Expo Hosts Danganronpa, Master Detective Archives: Rain Code Games’ Writer Kazutaka Kodaka

Kazutaka Kodaka (Danganronpa, Danganronpa 2) is the scenario writer for Spike Chunsoft and Too Kyo Games’ Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE (Enigma Archives Rain Code/Ch Tantei Jikenbo Rain Code). Kodaka will be a Guest of Honour at the “Spike Chunsoft, Inc. Official Panel” on July 3 at 12:30 p.m. PDT.
Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE will release for the Nintendo Switch on June 30.

The new “dark fantasy mystery” game reunites the Danganronpa series’ principal crew, which includes Kodaka, composer Masafumi Takada, and designer Rui Komatsuzaki.

Kodaka is well known as the creator of Spike Chunsoft’s Danganronpa adventure game series. Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, the series’ most recent chapter, was released in 2017. Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School: Future Arc and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School: Despair Arc, the 2016 anime series that acted as a climax to the previous two games in the series, were likewise written and overseen by Kodaka.



Anime Expo Screens U.S. Premieres for New Rurouni Kenshin Anime, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out Anime Film

Aniplex of America announced on Tuesday that the new television anime project based on Nobuhiro Watsuki’s Rurouni Kenshin manga would have its U.S. premiere at this year’s Anime Expo event on July 3 at 10:00 a.m. PDT on the Main Events stage of the Los Angeles Convention Centre. Following the screening, Aniplex producer Masami Niwa will speak with voice performers Sma Sait (Kenshin Himura) and Rie Takahashi (Kaoru Kamiya).

On July 3 at 6:30 p.m. PDT, the firm will also screen the U.S. premiere of Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out, the first part of the new sequel anime film project based on Hajime Kamoshida’s Seishun Buta Yar light book series.


Anime Expo Screens World Premiere of The Eminence in Shadow 2nd Season Anime

HIDIVE announced on Thursday that it will collaborate with Kadokawa to broadcast the global premiere of Daisuke Aizawa’s The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!) light novel series’ second television anime season at this year’s Anime Expo. The subtitled premiere will take place on July 1 at 12:15 p.m. PDT at the Los Angeles Convention Center’s Main Events Hall. The English-dubbed debut will take place at the convention center’s Petree Hall on July 4 at 11:00 a.m. PDT.

Each premiere will include a post-screening Q&A with Seiichir Yamashita (Cid/Shadow) and Christina Kelly (Alpha) at the Japanese premiere and Adam Gibbs (Cid/Shadow) and Christina Kelly (Alpha) at the dub screening.

The second season, which will consist of 12 episodes, will air in October. The Nexus studio’s primary personnel is back for the second season.


There’s even more!!

There will also be premiere of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead World at 12:30 p.m., The HELCK NA at 1:30 p.m., and Delicious in Dungeon at 1:45 p.m. Other anime premieres include Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero at 5:30 p.m., and Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn at 7:00 p.m.

There will also be a Record of Ragnarok II premiere at 1:00 pm and a Kaina of the Great Snow Sea movie premiere at 4:30 pm. Finally, at 4:30 p.m., a Viz industry panel will present information on numerous series such as Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family, and others.

Sports anime enthusiasts may enjoy viewing the North American premiere of THE FIRST SLAM DUNK at 12:00 p.m. before it hits US and Canadian theatres this summer.
